Event Report: Housing and homelessness – where now for service user involvement?

On Wednesday 20th April members of the Scottish Co-production Network came together with people involved in housing and homelessness groups, networks and services to talk about new ways to develop meaningful service user involvement of people with lived experience of homelessness.

The learning event held in partnership with the Scottish Homelessness Involvement and Empowerment Network and Shelter Scotland attracted 100 attendees, many of whom were people with lived experience.

Colleagues from Perth & Kinross Council, the Simon Community Scotland, NHS Fife, SmartLiving Fife, the Glasgow Participation Project and Navigate shared their experiences across the day.  Most valuable was the room given for discussion from which emerged a real appetite to continue to work together to develop a co-productive approach to service user involvement in housing and homelessness.

A core group will hopefully form to take on the work and keep the momentum going, with the SCN’s continued involvement.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the discussions, as facilitators and in sharing their experiences.  A massive thank you to excellent event partners SHIEN and Shelter Scotland (who have also produced a fantastic blog on the day which you can read here.)
