Date set for our national conference!

We've set a date for a national conference on co-production and community capacity building hosted jointly by JIT and the Scottish Co-production Network. The event will take place in Edinburgh on Wednesday 20th February. How do you think the network should highlight the great range of co-production activity and facilitate networking at the event?

Hi - we are using a Co-Production Model for our Housing Mentors (55+) Project which is working with older people telling others what has worked for them - to help older people plan ahead for their housing needs. We recently ran an event in Fife which was praised by participants for the following features: Stall holders to browse; more importantly: speed networking where stall holders visited round tables of participants and were "timed" and kept to 5 minutes to tell about their project work - people could then approach them afterwards at the stalls, or fill in an enquiry sheet for future contact. In addition, recently attended an Equal Futures event where the best bit was hearing peoples stories/experiences on stage - with photos etc: people telling/showing examples seemed to work best. However, I'm guessing that the purpose of your event is slightly different - so it is perhaps thinking about how to capture some of the good examples/work/photos etc and disseminating it afterwards to all the right quarters to highlight how co-production can work, its challenges and how it may be made more possible as part of service delivery/project delivery. Hope that helps! Looking forward to it as we are only at the beginning of our project but have great belief that it is the way forward...not us as experts, but the older people looking for solutions being assisted and encouraged by other people who have been there, done that, learned from it and got their solution. We hope to continue to use the model based on what we learn this year, to take forward into other areas of our work! Jackie Morrison, Co-ordinator at Disabled Persons Housing service (fife)

Hi Jackie,

Thanks for your really useful suggestions and comments! I'll be contacting network members today to suggest ways in which we can contribute to the conference taking your ideas on board. Thanks again
